Prof. Dilip Barad
Prof. Dilip P. Barad is an accomplished academic professional with extensive experience in the field of English language, literature and education. He is currently the Professor and Head of the Department of English at Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. Dilip has held various positions in academic governing bodies, including serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 2018 to 2021 and as the Chairman of the Board of Studies for English since 2009.
In addition to his current roles, Prof. Dilip P. Barad actively contributes to the assessment and accreditation of higher education institutions. He serves as an NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) assessor, taking on various responsibilities such as Chairman, Member Coordinator, and Member of Peer Teams. In these capacities, he plays a crucial role in evaluating and ensuring the quality and standards of educational institutions. His involvement as an NAAC assessor reflects his commitment to promoting excellence in higher education.
With over 26 years of teaching experience, Dilip has mentored numerous students at different academic levels. He has advised several doctoral, M.Phil., and master's students on their theses and dissertations, and has guided them in their research work. He has also actively engaged in research projects, including a UGC-funded research project on the use of technology for teaching English literature and language, as well as an MHRD eContent project on literary theory and criticism.
Dilip has published several critical works. He has authored a book titled "The Women Characters in the Novels of Thomas Hardy" and a few other books. He has written numerous blogs on various topics. His research work has been published in reputable journals, covering areas such as online instruction, south-asian literature, contemporary novels, and the integration of technology in teaching. He has also contributed chapters to books and has developed teacher training modules for organizations like RIE-NCERT Bhopal and SCERT-Assam.
In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dilip has conducted several teacher training workshops, both online and face-to-face, to enhance educators' skills and promote effective teaching practices. He has trained hundreds of teachers and scholars on topics such as online teaching, flipped learning, blended teaching, the integration of ICT in language teaching and on Research Methodoloy.
